The GPS is coming { i promise }

I know it's been a while, but I'm really getting my thoughts together. Guerilla Photo Shoots will begin in DC when the #snowpocalypse #snOMG winter ends!

If you are interested in joining me on this exciting project, I still need imaginative people to help me make this public performance art project a success. Please become a fan on Facebook so you can stay up-to-date.

In the mean time, let me know if you have any questions!

Where did the summer go?

Well, I can say for one thing that I am enjoying the crisp Northeast fall weather. As @paulo_one said recently: "I could live in October forever."

There have been some big changes to my vision for GPS. I have been rethinking the whole idea and premise and refining process. If you were wondering if you missed something, I still have not done the first GPS, but it will be coming soon I hope. We may wait until the first snow, I'm just not sure, but stay tuned to the Facebook group for more info on that.

The reasons for the delays are many, but the biggest reason is that I've decided to shut down Justin Schuck Photography and relocate from New York to Washington DC. To read more about all the changes, check out my blog: http://www.justinschuck.com/blog/2009/10/new-website-new-direction

I'm sorry I don't have more info for you now, but I didn't want you to think I forgot about GPS. Check out the Concepts and Pet Projects page on the new JustinSchuck.com.

GPS #1 New York ("Swine & Suspenders") pushed back to June

I'm sorry for the late notice, but I've decided to postpone the inaugural Guerrilla Photo Shoot to the weekend of June 26-27, 2009. There were a low-number of RSVPs due mostly to the fact that this is Memorial Day Weekend. (I didn't realize that when scheduling.) The additional month will allow me additional time to recruit new participants and better plan the shoot.

I'm sorry if this is a major inconvenience to anyone; feel free to email me if you have any questions/issues: gps@justinschuck.com

RSVP to the event here: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=95794799782

Announcing Guerrilla Photo Shoot #2 - "Ted Kennedy"

The theme of GPS shoot #2 is "Ted Kennedy" and where better to celebrate good ol' Teddy than in Boston, Massachusetts. Choose the Teddy you want to be, whether it's Teddy with Jack and Bobby, or Teddy with The Glenlivet, or Chappaquiddick neck brace Teddy, or post-plane crash Teddy, or my favorite, the fiery progressive in a fedora. Regardless of the Teddy you choose, be inventive and coordinate your outfit/costume with friends.

I'm not revealing where in the city this next adventure will take place, but I'll make sure it's near a T/Subway stop.

The shoot will take place from around 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM on June 6, 2009. Stay tuned to this blog, the Facebook group and Twitter to find out exactly how and when you can join this exciting public art project.

Announcing Guerrilla Photo Shoot #1 - "Swine and Suspenders"

Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to the very first Guerrilla Photo Shoot. The theme of this shoot is "Swine ans Suspenders" and what better location to create a scene than in New York's Financial District. Think Gordon Gekko and Patrick Bateman meet Swine Flu and Financial Meltdown.

I'm keeping the details limited until it gets closer to the date, but start planning your costumes. I want you to take the concept of "Swine and Suspenders" and really push the envelope.

The shoot will take place from around 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM on one of the following three days: May 22, 23, or 24. Stay tuned to this blog, the Facebook group and Twitter to find out exactly how and when you can join this exciting public art project.

Welcome to Guerrilla Photo Shoots by Justin Schuck

The idea behind Guerrilla Photo Shoots is to organize surprise "guerrilla-style" portraits, sometimes on a large scale. With infinite locations and infinite possibilities, you'll want to be a part of this transformational live art experience.

Find us online:
Guerrilla Photo Shoots Facebook Group: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=187484005327

The blog: JustinSchuck.com/GPS

Because I like to talk to myself, I thought I'd ask and answer some questions you might be asking.

* Who is this supposed to be for?
Anyone who wants to be a part of a growing art project; anyone who thrives on spontaneity and can jump at the chance to potentially violate traffic laws, and/or occupancy limits; and anyone who likes being weird.

* How much does it cost to participate?
It's absolutely 100% free.

*
How do we know when and where to be?
Well Mary, you'll need to join the group and wait for instructions. If we told you now, that would give all the fun away.

* What do these photo shoots entail?
Well, that depends. Each shoot will have a different theme and location. Sometimes this might mean wearing costumes, or dressing to a theme. This is actually very important because for the shoot to match the vision, instructions will need to be followed as closely as possible—especially the start and end times.

* Are there going to be gorillas at these shoots?
Are you retarded? No. It's G-U-E-R-R-I-L-L-A, as in bandito, guerrilla warfare, etc.

* Is this some scary plot to have me kidnapped and help for ransom?
While that might be an innovative strategy to make money in this recession, you are safe. From me and from guerrilla fighters at least. But I make no promises. You will be taking your life into your own hands, like the big girl that you are.

* Wait, so do you need models or photographers?
That's a good question. Everyone is welcome to take part, even other photographers, but for some shots it won't be helpful if everyone is holding a camera.

* Where can I find these photos?
Select images will appear here on Facebook, but the remainder will appear on our website http://JustinSchuck.com/GPS and on my Flickr page at http://flickr.com/photos/JustinSchuck.

* I appeared in one of the shoots, and I really like the pics, can I use them on my website or on my Facebook page?
I am working on a simple ordering system for select images from the shoots. I will reserve my copyrights, but I will grant a limited license to any confirmed participant to use images grabbed from Facebook, Flickr or here on the GPS website to use on Facebook or other approved site so long as you include the following caption below any caption you have: "© Justin Schuck / GuerrillaPhotoShoots.com." For additional license, or release information, just send me a message on Facebook or send me an Email.

This is the start of something amazing, I can feel it.
