San Francisco, I love You
PHOTOGRAPHY > SAN FRANCISCO, I LOVE YOUI love San Francisco. I moved here for the first time in May of 2000, as a then-closeted nineteen year old, seeking the freedom to figure out who I am in the safety of the greatest (and gayest) city in the world. When I left in August of that same year, I truly left a part of my spirit here. Though I returned frequently over the years, the pull to move back never faded.
When I returned to the Bay Area in September of 2014, my life was at an inflection point. A commercial photography client hired me to document the parts of the city that exist outside of the chintz of the heavily-touristed areas and well-known landmarks. Over the course of the succeeding 14 months, I walked camera-in-hand through every neighborhood in San Francisco. It gave me a street-level view of the beauty, majesty and magic of my adopted home town. Through hundreds of miles hoofing it across the 7×7, I found a thousand more reasons to love living here.
This collection is my love letter to San Francisco.
