Photographers listen with their eyes.  

For more than three decades I’ve captured moments in history with my camera. I’ve always worked to capture my subjects in a way that brings out their authentic selves. In 2019, I suffered a catastrophic data loss on a hard drive that could not be recovered. It was devastating. Many of the photographs in this gallery exist only at smaller resolutions and lower image quality. The images that appear with the “JAS” logo on them were pulled from my Flickr account.

While I mourn the loss of my photography portfolio, I am grateful that there exists a few images from my career as a professional photographer. The images you see here are a mixture of color film, black and white film, and digital images that were taken between 2005 and 2017.

I hope you enjoy these photographs as much as I enjoyed capturing these moments through the years.
